For the past 15 years, Captain Eric Burns has been studying the diverse ecology system of the salt creeks in the Lowcountry, and has come to realize the importance of conservation and preservation of these tidal waters.

The tidal creeks are loaded with floral and fauna in a fragile habitat that is unique to very few areas of the United States. From the Spartina grass to the dolphins, all organisms of these waters are connected by a single ecological circle and are waiting for you to discover their majestic grandeur. During his guided Sunset Boat Cruises and Kayak tours, members have seen Eagles nest with a mating pair, a roosting Great Blue Heron, and pods of dolphins frolicking in the welcome warmth of spring. The Okatie River has proven to be full of life and ready for Summer Activities. It is our pleasure to offer you many unique water activities at the River Park. Whether you choose to see the tidal waters during a Sunset Cruise or meandering through the river in a kayak, it gives you an opportunity to explore and learn about our wondrous home.
